The Bible begins with God: "In the beginning God" (Genesis 1: 1 a). God is the central point of all things. As we start our study of Bible doctrine, we too will begin by speaking and learning about God.

God's essence is His nature, or who and what God is.

No person can fully explain God for He is infinite - limitless and immeasurable. As human beings, we are not infinite, but are limited to being in only one place at a time. God, however, is everywhere at the same time. Our strength is measurable, but God's power is immeasurable; He is almighty. We are limited by time, but God is eternal.

There are many things which we do not fully understand because our intelligence is also limited. Therefore, we cannot fully explain God who is infinite.

O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgements, and His ways past finding out!
