1. Physical blessings - Natural life and health; food, shelter, and clothing; providing all necessary conditions for human life

2. Moral blessings - Man's conscience: a moral sense of God, truth, and right and wrong

3. Societal blessings - A civil desire for law, order, education, decency, health and welfare, and the common good

4. Restraining blessings - Restraining personal and societal sins through fear of conscience, fellow man, punishment, etc.; delaying the execution of man's just punishment

These gracious blessings make the existence of human and societal life on earth possible. God's common grace restrains fallen man's devilish heart. Therefore, sinful men on earth are not devils, nor is earth hell.

If a person rejects these blessings, he will be held accountable for despising God's testimony in conscience, providence, and creation.

These gracious blessings generally produce restraint against public sin, a morally decent life style, mental assertion of the truth of God's Word, and temporary convictions of the seriousness of life. They also include the person in the precious blessings of the offer of the gospel, the preaching and reading of the Word, the prayers, teachings, and discipline of the church, and the influence of church membership.

If Resisted:
If a person rejects these blessings, he will be held accountable for despising God's personal Word and invitation of salvation.

These gracious blessings are spiritual, saving, soul-renewing and eternal.

Irresistible

The saving, gracious operations of the Holy Spirit are irresistible. Therefore no saved sinner will ever fall out of his state of grace.
