God's law requires love. Love must be the root cause and otivating force for all our thoughts, words, and actions. First, the l aw requires love to God; and secondly, love to our neighbor. God nd man are to be the two principal recipients of our love. The Lord Jesus clearly summarized the teachings and requirements of God's law when He stated, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets" (Matthew 22:37-40). include "../doctrineincs/regufont.html"; ?>"Love to God" is the first and greatest summarized commandent. It reflects the primary cause of our creation. It applies to all people at all times in all situations. It includes our inward motives, motions, and thoughts, as well as our outward words and actions. As an omniscient and omnipresent Spirit, God knows us perfectly, internally as well as externally. |
