I. Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.

- Exodus 20:3

Deny the true God and serve other gods or idols

Know, acknowledge, love, and serve the true God above all else

II. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me, and keep My commandments.

Worship God by using images, pictures of His likeness or in any other way not appointed by His Word

Worship God in spirit and in truth, keeping pure and entire all forms of religious worship as God has appointed in His Word

III. Thou shalt not take the Name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh His Name in vain.

IV. Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath Day, and hallowed it.

Profane Sunday by using it for our own purposes of employment, recreation, or idleness

Keep Sunday holy by using all available private and public means of worship, except for required works of necessity and mercy

V. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

- Exodus 20:12

Disobey, disrespect, or neglect the performance of that which is lawfully required by those in authority over us

Obey and respect those placed in authority over us

VI. Thou shalt not kill.

- Exodus 20:13

Hate, wound, or kill ourselves or others, or perform reckless or dangerous actions

Love, forgive, and live in peace with, our neighbors; and promote the health and life of ourselves and others

VII. Thou shalt not commit adultery.

- Exodus 20:14

Promote sexually unclean thoughts, words, or actions

Preserve the sexual purity of ourselves and others

VIII. Thou shalt not steal.

- Exodus 20:15

Steal, cheat, or unjustly obtain the material goods of others

Honestly purchase all material goods and promote the prosperity of others and care for their possessions

IX. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.

- Exodus 20:16

Lie, exaggerate, gossip, or slander

Speak the truth and try to promote the good name of others

X. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

- Exodus 20:17

Covet or envy others or their possessions; to be discontent or unthankful with that which God has provided for us

Be content and thankful for that which God has provided for us and charitably view others and their possessions
